In 1343, Wicker Frosch, cantor of St. Bartholomaeus, founded the St. Katherine hospital along with two chapels and a convent.  During the reformation the church soon became protestant (1522).  The two chapels were torn down in 1678 and the present building was erected by Melchior Hessler between 1678 and 1681. 1343 gründete der Kantor des Bartholomäusstiftes, Wicker Frosch, das Katharinenspital; zwei Kapellen wurden erbaut und ein Jungfrauenkloster dabei errichtet. In der Reformationszeit diente die Kirche schon sehr bald, seit 1522, dem evangelischen Gottesdienst. 1678 wurden die beiden Kapellen niedergelegt und von 1678-81 durch Melchior Heßler der Bau errichtet.  Vergrößerung
