This view shows the Kannengiessergasse (Can-Pourer's lane, or Pewterer's lane) around the turn of the 19th/20th century from the corner of the Fahrgasse looking west toward the Cathedral. In the 14th Century the street was named Dresslergasse because of the Dreschler??? who lived there. During the course of the centuries, the pewterers took up their trade there, thus giving the street its name. The artisans of Frankfurt once rivaled those of Nuernberg and Rothenburg in the art of pewter, and their street was one of the most colorful and picturesque streets of the city.
Die Kanngießergasse von der Fahrgasse in Richtung Dom. Im 14. Jahrhundert wurde die Gasse Dressel- oder Dresslergasse nach den dort ansässigen Dreschlern genannt. Im Laufe der Jahrhunderte siedelten sich die Zinngießer in der Gasse an, so daß sich der heutige Name einbürgerte.
